Yemen, France discuss renewing cultural cooperation

(Saba)- Minister of Culture Arwa Othman discussed on Tuesday with French ambassador to Yemen Jean Marc Grosjean renewing the cooperation agreements between the two countries in the cultural and museums field.

In this regard, Othman pointed out that Yemen wants to renew the cultural cooperation agreement that ended in 2011 and the cooperation agreement signed with the Louver Museum, which ended in 2012, provided they be re-drafted in line with the developments so as to enhance the Yemeni-French cultural cooperation.

The two sides touched on mechanisms to develop the activity of the French Institute in Sana'a, as well as the possibility of raising the scholarships to France in the areas of arts and cultural training and rehabilitation, particularly in heritage and music.

The minister expressed Yemen's desire to take advantage of the French cultural experience and its need for the French support in the cultural fields, especially in the establishment of an academy or a higher institute for arts to serve the Yemeni artistic movement.

For his part, the French ambassador confirmed his country's keenness to strengthen the cultural cooperation relations with Yemen.
