Yemeni opposition rejects a new GPC initiative in continuing dialogue and expectations of SCER formation next week.
YemenOnline-August 21,2008- Informed sources declared to YemenOnline that The General Committee of the General People Congress (GPC) decided this morning to give a last chance for the continuation of democratic dialogue with the Joint Meeting Parties (JMP) On the basis of getting the opposition (JMP) the chairmanship of the Supreme Elections Committee and Referendums (SCER).JMP announced its rejection to the new GPC proposal and they threatened to boycott the coming parliamentary elections on 2009.
In the other hand other sources told YemenOnline that there are expectations confirming that presidential decree will issue next week including the formation of SCER In order to begin the process of voter registration in time.It is clear that there are disagreements within the JMP about the share of each party at SCER " sources added .
