Yemeni ruling party determined to hold elections on time : Vice President became a Secretary General of GPC
YemenOnline- Nov13,2008- An especial session was hold for the Standing Committee of the General People Congress GPC sana'a Yesterday to discuss the preparations of the coming up parliamentarian elections on April 2009. They decided to hold the elections on time and continue calling the opposition for dialogue .In this special session,òstanding committee elected Vice president of Yemen, General Abd Rabu Mansour Hadi as Secretary general of GPC as successor for the former prime minister Bajammal who suffered from a massive stroke three months ago but he is getting better . A number of political analysts stressed that electing General Hadi in an executive position in the ruling party emphasize the determination of GPC to contest the forthcoming elections and the impossibility to be postponed.
As many have viewed that represented a clear message to the opposition. General Hadi, the military man who is very well- known for his strong and firm as well as of high leadership abilities came as a great pressure on the opposition that they couldn’t say yet yes or no for the forthcoming parliamentarian elections .
