YOL- The Houthi armed group in Yemen has intensified its recruitment, training, and deployment of children in violation of international law. Since September 2014, when the Houthis, also known as Ansar Allah, took control of Yemen’s capital, Sanaa, they have increasingly used children as scouts, guards, runners, and fighters, with some children being wounded and killed.

Mohammed Khaled, 14 years old, was one of thousands of Yemeni children who were drawn to the battlefront by the Houthi rebels either using their need for money  or deceive  in the name of religion.

Mohammed participated in the wars of the Houthis in  city of Amran 2014, north of the capital Sanaa, and then participated in the battle of the invasion of the capital in September 21 September 2014.

Khaled has not received a good  education and studied until  VI primary, and last year he responded  with members of his tribe to the rebels call in order to recruit him.

The kid  noticed  that his family very  poor and his father is a retired soldier, and his salary is not enough to cover the needs of his 9 brothers, and their living conditions began to worsen more since 2014, pointing out that the rebels had promised his father officially recruited monthly salary.
