Houthi Rebles carried out a campaign a few days ago to confiscate "pants" that they said "contrary to their religious identity."
Yemeni human rights sources reported that female prisoners in Houthi detention centers were subjected to harsh and violent violations by the so-called “Zainabiyyat” - armed women’s brigades, affiliated with the Houthis, to the point of ripping off their clothes and throwing them on charges that affect their honor.
sources stated that although the female prisoners submitted complaints to the prison administration, they supported what the “Zainabiyyat” was doing.
"Yemen-Future" media platform quoted a human rights source as saying that he received a call from a number of female inmates in the central prison in Sana'a in which they spoke about the systematic violations they were subjected to by two female guards, known as "Umm al-Karrar", whose real name is Karima al-Marouni, and " Umm Zaid, who brutally abused female prisoners and treated them violently and cruelly throughout the day.
The source quoted one of the prisoners as saying that while she was in the prison courtyard with a group of female inmates, Umm al-Karrar and Umm Zaid came to them and insulted them with the most vulgar expressions and offensive words, under the pretext that two of them were wearing trousers. And they were not satisfied with that, but began assaulting them with scissors, as she took charge of Umm Zaid grabbed the first girl while Umm al-Karrar took the scissors and completely tore off the girl's pants, leaving her in her underwear.
She added, "The two female guards did the same thing to the other girl, as they tore the blouse she was wearing, until her chest was exposed. Not only that, but they also stabbed the prisoner with scissors in her hand during the assault, which caused her a deep wound."
According to the source, the girls filed a complaint with the prison administration, but unfortunately they did not receive any response, as the administration supported the violations committed by the “Zainabiyyat female prison guards,” and even accused them of immoral accusations that they communicate and correspond with people, which are meaningless charges, especially since they “They are completely forbidden from carrying phones in prison, and they do not have any contact with anyone. They only have one or two calls a week during which they communicate with their families, under the supervision and control of the jailers. I do not know how they accuse them of such charges that are far from reality.”
He pointed out that the “Zainabiyyat of the group” practice systematic violations against female prisoners throughout the day, including that the so-called “Umm al-Karrar” wakes up the female prisoners by kicking and hitting them, pulls them by the hair, and forces them to carry out all the work she orders them to do in the prison, whether cleaning, cooking, or... Laundry or whatever comes to mind.
The human rights source explained that, at the request of the female prisoners, a complaint was filed, including the violations and verbal and physical violence that female prison inmates are subjected to by the female guards, and they promised to go to the prison to investigate this matter, knowing that the latest complaint is the second.
It is noteworthy that the Houthi group carried out a few days ago a campaign to confiscate “pants” that they said “violate the identity of faith.” The source said, “It seems that this campaign has reached the prison as well. According to what I heard and learned from the female prisoners, there is a fight against everything related to “pants,” and therefore they understand They do not want any prisoner to wear our pants, otherwise she will be punished and violated.”
