Moments after a ceasefire was reached between Israel and Hamas that would effectively end the war in Gaza starting Sunday, forces in Iraq and Yemen announced they would suspend attacks on Israel.

Although the deal is yet to be reviewed and confirmed by the Israeli cabinet under Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, the ceasefire agreement between the two warring parties has been hailed as a ‘victory’ for Palestinians.

The truce deal has also been welcomed by factions of the Iran-led Axis of Resistance which joined Hamas’ fight against Israel after the conflict triggered on October 7, 2023. The forces are celebrating the successful realisation of the deal as their own achievement.

According to a report by Newsweek, Akram al-Kaabi, secretary-general of the Nujaba Movement, said, “With this important development, we announce that we will suspend our military operations against the entity in solidarity with its halt in Palestine, and to strengthen the continuation of the truce in Gaza.”

However, their was a tone of threat in Kaabi’s message who added, “However, let the usurping entity know that any foolishness on its part in Palestine or the region will be met with a harsh response, and that our fingers are still on the trigger and our missiles and drones are fully prepared.”
