Saudi Crown Prince Sets Condition for Joining Abraham Accords: Path to Palestinian Statehood
Washington — Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman has declared that the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia is open to joining the Abraham Accords, but only under the condition that a clear and credible path toward the establishment of a Palestinian state is secured.
Speaking during a high-profile meeting with U.S. President Donald Trump at the White House, the crown prince emphasized that normalization with Israel must be tied to progress on the two-state solution. “We want to be part of the Abraham Accords,” he stated, “but we also want to be sure that we secure a clear path to a two-state solution”.
The remarks mark a significant moment in Middle East diplomacy, as Saudi Arabia holds considerable influence in the Arab and Islamic world. While several Gulf and Arab nations have already signed normalization agreements with Israel, Riyadh has maintained that Palestinian rights must be addressed before formalizing ties.
The meeting, which included ceremonial honors and strategic discussions, also touched on regional security, economic cooperation, and defense partnerships. President Trump praised the crown prince’s leadership and reiterated U.S. support for a peaceful resolution to the Israeli-Palestinian conflict.
