The King Salman Humanitarian Aid and Relief Center (KSrelief), in cooperation with the World Health Organization (WHO), has inaugurated a pesticides spraying campaign in the Yemeni province of Al-Mahra as part of the National Malaria Control Program (NMCP).

The program includes the implementation of a series of residual pesticides spraying campaigns aimed at controlling mosquitos, with the participation of 56 health care workers and 14 supervisors, to combat malaria in the province’s Al-Ghaydah and Saihout governorates.

“The campaign will start from the region of Al-Abri before targeting other regions in the governorate,” the director of Al-Ghaydah said, expressing his appreciation for KSrelief’s role in financing the campaign.

KSrelief had distributed equipment during March to fight malaria in Yemen in cooperation with WHO.

The assistance provided included 1,200 spraying machines for indoor residual spraying and larvae, and 1,200 valves and spare parts to support the campaign combating malaria vectors in the targeted Yemeni provinces.

The center seeks to fight deadly epidemics and diseases, namely malaria, from which Yemen has suffered for years, particularly with its spread among children and pregnant women in coastal regions.
