Yemeni Defense Minister: More than 8,000 Houthi violations of UN truce

The Yemeni Defense Minister, Lieutenant-General Mohsen al-Daari, said on Tuesday that the violations of the humanitarian truce sponsored by the United Nations, which are backed by Iran, have exceeded, since its entry into force in early April, more than 8,000 violations.
During a meeting with the French ambassador to Yemen, Jean-Marie Safa, and the military attache, Junaid Gouda, Lieutenant-General Al-Da'ari affirmed that "these violations are a clear repudiation of the commitment to the armistice and an attempt to obstruct international efforts to build peace."
The Yemeni Defense Minister called for the importance of converging views with regard to dealing with terrorist groups and mobilizing international efforts in support of Yemen in confronting these groups "represented by the Houthi militia, al-Qaeda and ISIS."
He also stressed the mobilization of international efforts in support of Yemen in the face of these terrorist groups and the imposition of lasting and sustainable peace.
Al-Daari stressed the importance of putting pressure on the Iranian-backed Houthi militia "to abide by the terms of the UN truce and limit its violations and continuous mobilization since its announcement."
The Yemeni Defense Minister indicated that the government forces, with the support of the Saudi-led Coalition to Support Legitimacy, are defending international peace and security, and securing navigation and global trade, which are under constant threat from the Houthi militia and its supporters in the region, represented by Iran and the Lebanese Hezbollah.
For his part, the French ambassador affirmed that "the international community condemns these Houthi violations and calls for adherence to the terms of the armistice to achieve peace and stability in Yemen," according to the official Yemeni News Agency.
