UAE and Russia Reaffirm Support for Yemen’s Sovereignty in Diplomatic Meeting
Abu Dhabi — Russian Ambassador to Yemen, Evgeny Alexandrovich Kudrov , met with his Emirati counterpart, Ambassador Mohammed Al-Zaabi, to discuss the evolving humanitarian situation and prospects for peace in Yemen.
The two envoys exchanged views on the latest developments in the Yemeni conflict and emphasized the importance of supporting ongoing international efforts to reach a comprehensive and sustainable political solution. Both sides reaffirmed their countries’ commitment to the sovereignty, unity, and territorial integrity of Yemen, while stressing the urgent need to alleviate the suffering of millions affected by the prolonged crisis.
According to a joint statement, the ambassadors discussed ways to enhance coordination between Moscow and Abu Dhabi in supporting UN-led peace initiatives and strengthening humanitarian response mechanisms. They also reviewed the role of regional actors in facilitating dialogue among Yemeni parties and promoting de-escalation on the ground.
Ambassador Kurdov praised the UAE’s continued humanitarian contributions and reconstruction efforts in Yemen, while Ambassador Al-Zaabi welcomed Russia’s diplomatic engagement and its recent outreach to various Yemeni stakeholders.
The meeting comes amid renewed international attention to Yemen’s fragile ceasefire and the deteriorating humanitarian conditions, with over 21 million people in need of assistance according to UN estimates. Both ambassadors called for increased international support to address urgent needs in food security, healthcare, and displacement, and highlighted the importance of protecting humanitarian workers and ensuring safe access to affected populations.
