The Libyan Foreign Ministry on Tuesday condemned a drone attack on troops stationed on Saudi Arabia's southern border with Yemen, which killed two Bahraini military personnel and injured several others.
The attack on Monday killed an officer and a member of the Bahrain Defense Force who were taking part in the Operations Decisive Storm and Restoring Hope launched by the Saudi-led coalition, the ministry said in a statement.
"This is a dangerous development that undermines efforts to bring peace and threatens settlement efforts in brotherly Yemen. The ministry expresses deep condolences for the Government of the Kingdom of Bahrain and wishes speedy recovery for the injured," the statement said.
Houthi rebels carried out the drone attack on Monday when Bahraini troops were patrolling the border, according to a statement published by the official Bahrain news agency.
Yemen has been embroiled in a devastating civil war since 2014. The Saudi-led coalition began to intervene in the conflict in support of the Yemeni government in 2015.
Bahrain, a close ally of Saudi Arabia, joined the coalition in 2015 and has suffered several military casualties in the past years.
