GCC, EU chiefs discuss developments in Gaza war
Mohammed Al-Budaiwi, secretary-general of the Gulf Cooperation Council, and EU Foreign Policy Chief Josep Borrell met on Sunday in Riyadh to discuss the latest developments in Israel’s war on Gaza, Kuwait News Agency reported on Monday.
The two sides reviewed ways to strengthen international and regional efforts aimed at reaching a ceasefire and ending the humanitarian disaster in the occupied Palestinian territory.
More than 22,600 people have been killed by Israel’s airstrikes and ground invasion in Gaza since Oct. 7, many of whom are women and children.
The meeting also addressed GCC and EU senior officials’ regional security dialogue, which is scheduled to take place on Jan. 24 in Riyadh.
Al-Budaiwi and Borrell also discussed ways to strengthen and develop collaboration between the GCC and the EU in various fields, emphasizing the importance of collective action to address current challenges.
