Yemen : Security Forces in Aden Dismantle Cell Recruiting Youth for Houthi Militias
Aden – Security forces in the southern city of Aden have successfully dismantled a covert cell consisting of 12 individuals accused of recruiting young men to join Houthi militias in their fight against state institutions.
According to official sources, the cell operated under direct instructions from Houthi leadership and was tasked with luring vulnerable youth through financial incentives and ideological propaganda. The group reportedly targeted neighborhoods in Aden and surrounding areas, aiming to destabilize the region by undermining government authority.
Authorities confirmed that the operation to apprehend the suspects was carried out after weeks of surveillance and intelligence gathering. The detainees are currently under investigation, and preliminary findings suggest that the cell had established communication channels with Houthi operatives in northern Yemen.
A spokesperson for the Aden Security Directorate stated, “This operation is part of our ongoing efforts to protect national security and prevent hostile elements from infiltrating our communities. We will continue to pursue those who threaten the stability of our city and country.”
Local leaders and civil society organizations have praised the swift action taken by security forces, emphasizing the importance of safeguarding youth from exploitation and manipulation by extremist groups.
The arrests mark a significant step in countering Houthi influence in southern Yemen, where tensions remain high amid ongoing conflict and political fragmentation.
