Jamal al-Awadhi, head of the National Center for Human Rights in Yemen, who is currently based in Paris, said the former US ambassador to Yemen, Gerald Feierstein, was tweeted last week accusing the current Yemeni Vice President Ali Mohsen Al-Ahmar for blocking the mobile banking initaitive in 2012 which aims to ensure financial transparency in the Yemeni army, reducing corruption .

According to Awadhi, the US initiative mentioned by the former US ambassador was aimed at reducing the widespread corruption in the Yemeni army through thousands of faked names contained the list of soldiers' salaries, which were discovered through temporary independent military committees working seasonally . The phenomenon rampant in the Yemeni army and in particular the military units, which were led by the Al-Ahmer or what was known as the First Armored brigades in Yemen.

Many observers have referred to Feierstein mentioned in twitter as a warning and alert to the Arab coalition led by Saudi Arabia, and the United Arab Emirates over the possibilities of repeating the same scenario of corruption within the current Yemeni army, which is located in the governorate of Marib, east of the Yemeni capital of Sana'a. This troops were  under the direct command and supervision of Major General Ali Mohsen al-Ahmar himself.

Many of Yemeni activists are talking about the nature of this corruption, wondering where the money was going and whether if there are actually officially undeclared soldiers. Many of the first Armored brigades units have already adopted hundreds of fighters returning from Afghanistan or what so called the Afghan Arabs in the mid-1990s.
By the way , Yemeni sources told AIJES that Ali Mohsen was mediated to pay 20,000,000 $ as a ransom for al-Qaeda through Yemeni tribes a by the Qatari regime in 2012 within the process of releasing the abductees, which was then considered as an indirect financing of al-Qaeda, which was facing a severe financial crisis as a result of the  military campaign in the framework of the war on terror Yemen .
