Statement by the Head of the United Nations Mission to Support the Hudaydah Agreement and Chair of the Redeployment Coordination Committee in Yemen

The Head of the United Nations Mission to Support the Hudaydah Agreement (UNMHA) and Chair of the Redeployment Coordination Committee (RCC), Lt. Gen. Abhijit Guha, expresses his grave concern over the recent escalation in violence in the Governorate of Hudaydah where armed clashes and air activities continue to take place on a daily basis.
The RCC Chair is particularly alarmed about the aerial strike, which hit and set fire to a fuel storage of an oil facility in al-Urj area, between Hudaydah city and the port of al-Salif, on 16 August. He urges the parties to consider the safety of the Yemini people, and not to target civilian facilities.
General Guha reminds and calls on the parties to demonstrate their commitment to the Hudaydah Agreement (Stockholm 2018) including a fully respected ceasefire in the governorate.
