Aden - Yemeni government forces launched a targeted operation against an al-Qaeda hideout in the Shabwa province today. 

The raid resulted in the arrest of a mid-level al-Qaeda commander and the death of another militant. 

This operation underscores the ongoing threat posed by al-Qaeda in the Arabian Peninsula (AQAP), which continues to exploit Yemen's prolonged conflict to bolster its activities.

The operation, however, came at a cost, with six soldiers wounded during intense clashes. Shabwa, along with neighboring Abyan province, remains a hotbed for AQAP's operations, serving as key areas for their recruitment and logistical networks.

Yemeni security forces have reaffirmed their commitment to combating terrorism and ensuring stability in the region. 

This latest action represents a broader effort to dismantle AQAP's presence and mitigate the group's influence within Yemen and beyond.
