Taiz — A deadly drone attack by Houthi militias targeted a fuel station in Yemen’s southwestern province of Taiz early Thursday morning, killing one civilian and injuring 14 others, according to local officials.

The explosion occurred at the Qadasi gas station, northeast of Taiz city, when Houthi drones bombed fuel tanks, triggering a massive fire that engulfed the facility and damaged nearby homes. Emergency teams rushed to the scene, evacuating the wounded to a nearby hospital. Several victims remain in critical condition.

The Yemeni Ministry of Defense confirmed the incident, stating that the attack caused the complete destruction of the station and ignited secondary fires in adjacent residential areas. Civil defense units managed to extinguish the blaze and provide assistance to affected families.

This assault marks a serious escalation in Houthi attacks on civilian infrastructure in Taiz, a city that has endured a prolonged siege for over eight years. The Houthis have not issued any statement regarding the incident.

Local residents and rights groups condemned the attack, calling on international organizations to intervene and protect civilians from further violations.
