It is expected that Hans Grundberg, the United Nations Special Envoy for Yemen, will give a briefing to the council, in which he will address the developments of the humanitarian truce, which ended on the 2nd of October without an agreement to renew it, after the Houthi militia rejected his latest proposal that included an expanded truce and set "extreme" conditions. To accept its extension, according to the "Yemen Future" media platform.
Grundberg will also address the international and international efforts to reactivate the armistice, and the discussions he held with the various parties to the conflict with the aim of converging views in the hope of agreeing on an expanded armistice, according to his proposal, which would give more space to negotiate a ceasefire and hold talks on issues economic and security, and prepare for the resumption of a political process to end the conflict that has been going on for more than seven years.
The expanded truce, according to Grundberg's proposal, includes the establishment of a mechanism to pay the salaries and pensions of civil servants, the opening of roads in Taiz and other governorates, the establishment of additional international destinations from Sana'a airport, as well as the continuation of the regular flow of fuel to the ports of Hodeidah under the control of the Houthi group.
Martin Griffiths, Under-Secretary-General for Humanitarian Affairs, is also scheduled to give a briefing on the developments in the humanitarian situation in Yemen, and the obstacles facing the implementation of humanitarian response programs in the country, in light of the relief agencies suffering from large funding gaps that threaten to stop the rest of their rescued humanitarian programmes. life for millions of Yemenis.
