Yemen : Rights Groups Alarmed by Continued Enforced Disappearances in Yemen's Dhamar
Dhamar — Human rights organizations have expressed deep concern over the continued abduction and enforced disappearance of more than 70 civilians by Houthi militias in Dhamar Governorate.
The individuals have reportedly been held incommunicado for over ten days, with no information provided to their families regarding their whereabouts or condition.
According to rights advocates, the detainees were taken from various districts in Dhamar without legal justification or due process. Families of the victims have been denied any form of contact, raising fears about the detainees’ safety and well-being.
The organizations condemned the practice as a grave violation of international humanitarian law and called for the immediate disclosure of the detainees’ locations, access to legal representation, and communication with their relatives.
They also urged international bodies to pressure the Houthis to cease arbitrary detentions and respect the rights of civilians in areas under their control.
The situation remains tense as families continue to demand answers and accountability amid growing calls for justice and transparency.
