Taiz  — Four Yemeni civilians were injured on Saturday following the explosion of two landmines left behind by Houthi militias in the coastal district of Dhubab, located in Taiz governorate, southwestern Yemen.

Local sources reported that the victims were walking near a farming area when the mines detonated, causing serious injuries. Emergency teams rushed to the scene and transferred the wounded to nearby medical facilities for treatment. Their conditions are reported to be stable.

The incident highlights the ongoing threat posed by landmines and unexploded ordnance scattered across conflict zones in Yemen, particularly in areas previously controlled by Houthi forces. Dhubab, situated along the strategic Bab al-Mandab Strait, has witnessed repeated clashes and remains heavily contaminated with explosive remnants.

Human rights organizations and demining agencies have repeatedly called for increased efforts to clear landmines and protect civilians, especially in rural and coastal communities. According to recent estimates, thousands of mines have been planted by Houthi fighters in various parts of Taiz, Hodeidah, and Marib.

Local authorities have urged residents to exercise caution and report suspicious objects to security forces or demining teams. Meanwhile, advocacy groups continue to press for international support to accelerate mine clearance operations and hold perpetrators accountable.
