The Israeli air force carried out a number of attacks and raids on several targets in Yemen, including the airport and port of Hodeidah in the west of the country, in the strongest attack targeting the Houthis since the start of the war in the region after October 7, which led to the killing of four people and the wounding of 49 others so far.
On the other hand, the American website Axios confirmed that the Israeli strike on the port of Hodeidah was carried out in coordination with the US Central Command "CENTCOM".
These strikes also coincide with the US military's decision to enhance its air military support capabilities in the Middle East, while some of its forces were put on alert to deploy in the region, fearing the expansion of the conflict following the assassination of Hassan Nasrallah.
On Saturday, the Houthi Ansar Allah group targeted Ben Gurion Airport in Israel with a ballistic missile before it was shot down by Israeli defenses. Meanwhile, the United States is strengthening its military presence in the region. The Israeli Broadcasting Corporation confirmed that dozens of Israeli aircraft participated in the attack on the port of Hodeidah and the international airport, which targeted a power station and oil storage facilities "in coordination with the United States of America".
The Broadcasting Authority added that the Israeli bombing came in response to the three raids carried out by the Houthi Ansar Allah group with ballistic missiles, which attempted to target Ben Gurion Airport in the north before the Israeli Air Force intercepted it on Saturday evening. For its part, Houthi-affiliated media outlets confirmed the Israeli targeting and circulated initial images of the Israeli targeting of the port of Hodeidah on their accounts on the X platform.
The official spokesman for the Houthis also confirmed that "the new Israeli aggression on Hodeidah facilities comes to break Yemen's decision to support Gaza."
The Jerusalem Post newspaper also confirmed that with this attack, the Israeli army "carried out the strongest strike against the Houthis in Yemen since the beginning of the war," according to Israeli security sources. The Houthi Ansar Allah group announced on Saturday that it had bombed targets in Tel Aviv and Ashkelon with a ballistic missile and a drone, in solidarity with Gaza and Lebanon.
