The Saudi authorities closed Wadia border crossing, as a precautionary measure to prevent the spread of the coronavirus.

A source from Wadia crossing said that the Saudi authorities informed the administration on the Yemeni side that no Yemeni traveller is allowed to enter the Saudi territory until further notice.

The source added that the crossing is open to exit from Saudi Arabia, as well as for truck movement to and from the Kingdom.

This comes at a time when the Saudi Kingdom has closed its land borders with Iraq, Kuwait and Bahrain, as part of precautions to prevent the spread of the coronavirus.The Saudi authorities announced last week that travellers would be bannedfrom entering via the Wadia crossing, before the Yemeni authorities announced that the ban would be restricted to Umrah performers.

The Wadia crossing, located in in Hadhramaut Governorate, is the only land crossing with Saudi Arabia still operating, as the war caused the suspension of the remaining border routes between the two countries.
