Yemen kicks off cancer support campaign

Hadramaut Governor Adel Mohammed Ba-Humaid launched Wednesday (February 4th) a campaign to support cancer patients titled "We Love You", carried out by the Hadramaut Cancer Foundation to mark World Cancer Day (February 4th) and International Childhood Cancer Day (February 15th), Yemen's official news agency Saba reported.
The governor said the local council would give 1 million riyals ($4,650) to cancer patients, urging individual donors, philanthropists and Yemenis in general to help make the campaign a success.
The foundation's executive director, Waleed Abdullah al-Battati, said the campaign, organised nationwide, aims to raise awareness about the suffering of cancer patients and to mobilise efforts to support and help them.
The campaign features media and awareness-raising activities targeting populations and public places in the capital, Hadramaut, Shabwa and al-Mahra, he said.
