“We Want to Live”: Rights Campaign Calls for Protection of Civilians in Yemen
Sana'a -- The Yemeni Coalition for Human Rights, in partnership with the Cairo Institute for Human Rights Studies, has launched a campaign titled “We Want to Live” to highlight the suffering of civilians in Yemen and call for urgent action to protect their basic rights.
The campaign, launched in October 2025, urges an end to human rights violations, including arbitrary arrests, torture, and restrictions on freedom of expression. It also calls for accountability for those responsible and support for civil society efforts to document abuses.
Organizers say the campaign reflects the voices of millions of Yemenis who are struggling to survive amid war, economic collapse, and lack of access to food, healthcare, and education.
The campaign has gained wide attention on social media, with Yemenis sharing personal stories under the hashtag #WeWantToLive. It calls on the international community to take concrete steps to protect civilians, ensure humanitarian access, and support a just and lasting peace in Yemen.
