U.S. envoy: Iran fueling conflict in Yemen

The US envoy to Yemen, Tim Lenderking, confirmed that Iran is fueling the conflict in Yemen through its support for the Houthi militias.
He said in an interview with (Arab News) newspaper published today, Sunday, "Tehran supports the Houthi militia in developing their military and drone capabilities .
He also commented on the situation of the Safer oil tank , warning that any leakage from the floating tank would "destroy" the Red Sea coast.
"If the ports on the west coast are closed to oil ships, this will exacerbate the humanitarian situation in Yemen," the US envoy said.
It is noteworthy that the Safer is a worn-out oil tanker carrying 101 million barrels of oil (more than 140,000 tons), and is anchored 6 miles from the Yemeni coast.
The United Nations postponed the visit of its team of experts to the tanker more than once after the Houthis reneged on their pledges to allow the team to maintain and empty the floating tank to avoid an environmental disaster, while the Yemeni government accused the militia of using the tank as a “political blackmail” card.
