US welcomes Oman’s commitment to extend truce in Yemen

US Secretary appreciated the Sultanate of Oman's efforts to help secure and expand the truce, which would bring further lifesaving relief to millions of Yemenis.
His Excellency Sayyid Badr Al Busaidi, Minister of Foreign Affairs, received a phone call from His Excellency Anthony Blinken, US Secretary of State, regarding bilateral relations between the two countries and consultations on a number of regional and international issues of common interest.
US Secretary Antony Blinken said in his official account: “During our conversation today, Foreign Minister of Oman and I expressed our countries’ strong support to help secure an extension and expansion of the un-mediated truce in Yemen this Sunday, which would bring further life-saving relief to millions of Yemenis.”
An official statement issued in the United State Government website reads: “Secretary of State Antony J Blinken spoke today with Omani Foreign Minister Sayyid Badr al-Busaidi to discuss the impending expiration of the UN-mediated truce in Yemen on October 2.
The Secretary welcomed Oman’s commitment to extending the truce and its efforts to help secure an expansion of the truce, which would bring further life-saving relief to millions of Yemenis. This additional relief would include paying teachers, nurses, and other civil servants who have not been paid in years, expanding flights from Sana’a, opening roads in Taiz and elsewhere, and ensuring the continued flow of fuel.
The Secretary reiterated the shared concern about a return to war, which would only bring further destruction and suffering and again needlessly delay a peaceful future for Yemenis.
