Israel Intercepts Third Missile from Yemen in 24 Hours
Aden — The Israeli military confirmed Thursday that it intercepted a ballistic missile launched from Yemen, marking the third such attack within a 24-hour period as hostilities between Israel and the Iran-backed Houthi movement intensify.
According to the Israel Defense Forces (IDF), the missile was detected over the Red Sea and neutralized by Israel’s aerial defense systems before reaching Israeli territory. No casualties or damage were reported, and air raid sirens were not activated during the latest interception.
The Houthis, who control large swaths of northern Yemen, have claimed responsibility for the launches, describing them as acts of solidarity with Palestinians amid the ongoing war in Gaza. In a video statement, Houthi military spokesman Yahya Saree said the group had targeted strategic Israeli sites, including Ben Gurion Airport, with long-range Zulfiqar missiles.
Israeli officials have condemned the attacks, warning of further retaliatory strikes against Houthi-controlled areas. Defense Minister Yoav Gallant stated that Israel "will not tolerate threats from distant fronts" and vowed to respond decisively to any escalation.
The surge in missile activity follows Israeli airstrikes last week that reportedly killed senior Houthi officials in Sanaa, including the group's prime minister. In response, the Houthis have pledged to intensify their operations against Israeli and U.S. interests in the region.
