UNSC to Hold Mid-Month Meeting on Yemen
NewYork -- The United Nations Security Council (UNSC) is scheduled to convene its regular session on Yemen in the middle of this month, as part of its ongoing efforts to monitor the situation in the war-torn country.
Diplomatic sources confirmed that the meeting will focus on the latest political, humanitarian, and security developments in Yemen, including the fragile ceasefire, the humanitarian crisis, and the prospects for resuming peace talks under UN auspices.
The Council is expected to hear briefings from the UN Special Envoy for Yemen, Hans Grundberg, as well as senior officials from the Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs (OCHA). Discussions will likely address the challenges of delivering aid to millions of Yemenis affected by conflict, displacement, and economic collapse.
Member states are also anticipated to review the implementation of previous resolutions and assess the role of regional actors in supporting dialogue and stability. The meeting comes amid renewed international calls for a comprehensive political settlement to end more than a decade of conflict.
