12 al-Qaeda suspects go on trial in Yemen

Amanat Sanaa's criminal prosecution team on Tuesday (January 13th) referred to court the files of 12 al-Qaeda gunmen, including the primary suspect in the kidnap of the Saudi deputy consul in Aden in March 2012, the Yemeni Defence Ministry's news portal 26sep.net reported. The defendants are charged with taking part in an al-Qaeda-affiliated armed gang to target army and police personnel and a number of vital facilities and to kidnap foreigners and diplomats. The men were arrested between 2013 and 2014 in Amanat Sanaa, Abyan and Hadramaut provinces, the news portal said. Al-Shorfa
