An explosion at the premises of a French humanitarian organisation in Yemen’s southern city of Aden occurred on Friday night, a day after a deadly blast at the city’s airport, according to local media.
A bomb went off in front of Action Contre La Faim, a non-governmental organisation fighting hunger, in Aden’s district of Khur Maksar, security sources said.
The blast damaged the gate of the site, Al Ghad news portal quoted a security source as saying.
The explosion occurred near an hotel in the area and rocked the whole district, the portal added without reporting casualties.
Red Cross employees
On Wednesday, a huge explosion hit the Aden airport killing 25 people and injuring over 100 others. The dead included three Red Cross employees.
That blast occurred as a plane carrying members of the newly formed government landed at the airport from Saudi Arabia.
The Yemeni government has accused the Iran-aligned Al Houthi militia of standing behind the attack.
Al Houthis plunged Yemen into a devastating conflict in late 2014 when they toppled the internationally recognised government and seized the capital Sana’a. In 2015, an Arab alliance, co-led by Saudi Arabia and the UAE, started a military campaign in Yemen against Al Houthis in response to the government’s request there.
