The internationally recognized Yemeni government welcomed the recent statement of the UN Security Council condemning Houthi's attacks against Saudi Arabia.

In a statement issued Wednesday, the Security Council highlighted the October 8 attack on King Abdullah Airport and the drone attacks striking the Abha civilian airport.

The Council stressed the need for de-escalation, including an immediate end to the Houthi escalation in Marib. It condemned the recruitment and use of children, and sexual violence, in conflict.

The members of the Security Council demanded an immediate nationwide ceasefire, in accordance with resolution 2565 (2021), and called for the resolution of differences through inclusive dialogue and the rejection of violence to achieve political goals.

They welcomed the announcement of Saudi Arabia on March 22 that the Yemeni government-supported, recalling their strong commitment to the unity, sovereignty, independence, and territorial integrity of Yemen.

The Yemeni Foreign Ministry announced its support to the statement of the Security Council condemning the attacks on Saudi territory, the increased attacks on commercial and civil ships near the Yemeni coast, and the recruitment and use of children and sexual violence.

It demanded ending the blockade of the Abdiya district, south of Marib.

The Yemeni statement indicated that the government realizes that ending the coup and Houthi-waged war guarantees an end to human suffering and leads to compliance with international humanitarian and human rights laws.

The statement reiterated the legitimate government's support of efforts led by the UN Secretary-General Special Envoy Hans Grundberg to achieve peace and restore the state.

Meanwhile, militia leaders condemned the statement issued by the Council, saying it is "crude and blind."

Houthi spokesman Mohammad Abdul Salam Felita reiterated that the group would continue fighting by any means necessary.

The Houthi foreign ministry accused the Security Council of "double standards," saying its statement is not fair, which neither builds confidence nor helps achieve peace.

In response to the Houthi statements, the Yemeni Minister of Information Muammar al-Eryani said that the group continues to adopt the political and military escalation approach.

It is challenging the will and consensus of the international community on the need for ceasing fire on all fronts and establishing peace based on the three references, he said.

Eryani indicated that Houthis continue to implement the Iranian regime's dictations, controlling its political and military decisions.

The Yemeni minister urged the international community to take firm stances to end "the Tehran regime's blatant interference in Yemeni affairs, and its support for the Houthi militia."

Iran supports Houthis with money, weapons, experts, and military technology, undermining calm efforts and escalating the war, warned Eryani.

Eryani called on the international community, the UN, the Security Council, and international envoys to include Houthi militia on global terrorism lists, freeze its assets, impose sanctions on its leaders, prosecute those outside Yemen and bring them to trial.
