Prominent Yemeni Activist Sahar Al-Khawlani Released After Months of Captivity

Yemeni media figure and human rights activist Sahar Al-Khawlani was released by the Houthi militia on Wednesday, five months after her abduction from her home in Sana’a.
Al-Khawlani, known for her outspoken criticism of the Houthi regime and her advocacy for Yemeni citizens, was kidnapped in September 2024 during a raid by Houthi forces.
Her release comes after sustained pressure from local and international human rights organizations, which condemned her abduction and demanded her immediate and unconditional release.
Al-Khawlani's health had deteriorated during her captivity, and she is now receiving medical care.
The activist's release has been hailed as a victory for human rights and freedom of expression in Yemen.
