Arab League Chief Voices Deep Concern Over Escalating Yemen Crisis
Cairo – The Secretary-General of the Arab League, Ahmed Aboul Gheit, has expressed profound concern over the dangerous and escalating developments in Yemen, following the Southern Transitional Council’s failure to respond to the demands of the Presidential Leadership Council.
Aboul Gheit voiced hope for an immediate halt to the rising tensions in Hadramout and Al-Mahra governorates, stressing the urgent need to prevent further deterioration in the eastern regions of the country.
He appealed to all member states of the Coalition to Support Legitimacy in Yemen to preserve the spirit of Arab solidarity during this critical juncture, urging restraint and adherence to a unified Arab stance in support of Yemen’s legitimate authority, in line with successive resolutions of the Arab League Council.
Reiterating his position, Aboul Gheit emphasized that the only viable path to addressing these escalations lies in dialogue rather than imposing faits accomplis, underscoring the importance of political solutions to safeguard Yemen’s stability and regional security.
