UAE Conducts Urgent Medical Airlift for 155 Wounded and Sick from Gaza

Abu Dhabi — The United Arab Emirates has carried out an urgent medical evacuation for 155 wounded and ill individuals from the Gaza Strip, along with their family members, in coordination with the World Health Organization (WHO) and under the directives of President His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan.
The evacuation flight departed from Ramon Airport in Israel via the Karam Abu Salem crossing, transporting patients in critical condition to hospitals across Abu Dhabi. Others were transferred to the Emirates Humanitarian City, where they will receive comprehensive medical care under the supervision of specialized Emirati medical teams.
This operation is part of the UAE’s broader humanitarian initiative to provide treatment for 1,000 Palestinian children and 1,000 cancer patients affected by the ongoing crisis in Gaza. Since the onset of hostilities, the UAE has evacuated over 2,700 patients and their families, reflecting its sustained commitment to alleviating civilian suffering.
Sultan Mohammed Al Shamsi, Assistant Minister of Foreign Affairs for Development and International Organisations, emphasized the UAE’s dedication to rapid humanitarian response. “These efforts demonstrate the UAE’s unwavering support for the Palestinian people and its deep-rooted commitment to delivering immediate aid and medical relief,” he said.
The UAE continues to operate a field hospital in southern Gaza and a hospital ship anchored at Egypt’s Al-Arish Port, providing essential medical services, equipment, and supplies. The latest airlift underscores the country’s role as a leading regional actor in humanitarian relief and medical diplomacy.
