Netanyahu Warns Houthis Pose Major Threat to Israel
Jerusalem — Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu described Yemen’s Houthi militias as a “serious and dangerous front” against Israel, stressing that his government is handling the issue with utmost seriousness.
Netanyahu’s remarks came after a long pause since the last Houthi attack on Israel, underscoring his view that the group remains a persistent threat despite the lull in hostilities. He emphasized that the Israeli government is treating the matter with great seriousness, pledging to act decisively against the Iran-backed rebels.
The Prime Minister noted that Israel has already taken military action against Houthi positions in Yemen, framing the strikes as necessary to protect Israel and safeguard international shipping lanes. “As we acted with force against other terrorist arms of Iran’s axis of evil, so we will act against the Houthis — with force, determination, and sophistication,” he said in a video statement.
The warning also underscores the broader regional implications, as Houthi attacks have disrupted global trade routes and heightened tensions across the Middle East.
