Yemen : Suspects Arrested in Deadly Bombing Outside Islah Headquarters
TAIZ — Security authorities in Yemen’s southwestern Taiz governorate announced that they had detained several suspects linked to a bombing outside the headquarters of the Islah Party, which left 14 people dead or wounded.
The Security Media Center in Taiz said in a statement posted on its official Facebook page that police forces apprehended a number of individuals in connection with the improvised explosive device (IED) attack that struck the party’s office in Al-Dhurbah neighborhood, in the heart of the city.
While the statement did not disclose the exact number of detainees, it stressed that security operations remain ongoing to track down other elements involved in the incident. Authorities vowed they “will not hesitate to pursue anyone proven to be implicated, complete legal procedures, and refer the accused to judicial authorities to face justice.”
The blast, which occurred Thursday morning, killed three people and injured 11 others with varying degrees of severity, including women and children.
The attack underscores the fragile security situation in Taiz, a city long scarred by conflict, and highlights the continuing risks faced by civilians amid Yemen’s protracted war.
