The Council of Ministers on Tuesday welcomed all initiatives aimed at finding a comprehensive political solution to the conflict in Yemen.

The weekly session of the Cabinet, chaired by Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Salman at Al-Yamamah Palace in Riyadh, praised the statement issued by foreign ministers of Saudi Arabia, the United Arab Emirates (UAE), Britain and the United States in this respect following their meeting on the situation in Yemen held in Warsaw.

In a statement to the Saudi Press Agency following the session, Minister of Civil Service and Acting Minister of Media Sulaiman Al-Hamdan noted that the Warsaw meeting decided to support the agreements on Yemen reached in Sweden in December 2018. It also denounced the Iranian move to undermine the stability of Yemen through illegal financing of Houthis and by providing them missiles and sophisticated weapons in violation of the UN Security Council resolutions.

Al-Hamdan said the Cabinet was briefed on the outcome of the recent visit to Pakistan by Crown Prince Muhammad Bin Salman during which the Saudi-Pakistan Supreme Coordination Council was established and seven agreements worth $20 billion were signed.

The Cabinet also looked forward to the fruitful outcome of the Crown Prince’s visit to India and China.

The Cabinet authorized minister of energy, industry and mineral resources or his deputy to discuss and sign a memorandum of understanding with the Indian side for cooperation in the field of energy efficiency between the Saudi Energy Efficiency Center and India’s National Productivity Council. It also authorized minister of media or his deputy to discuss and sign an agreement between the Saudi Ministry of Media and India’s Ministry of Information and Broadcasting in the field of joint audio and video production.

Al-Hamdan said the Cabinet approved the memoranda of understanding between the governments of Saudi Arabia and UAE in the fields of environment, water and agriculture, youth, capital markets and services, customs and common market cooperation, housing, and logistics and infrastructure.

The Cabinet also authorized the minister of energy, industry and mineral resources to sign a framework agreement to set up the International Solar Energy Coalition.
