Yemeni Prime Minister Dr. Maeen Abdulmalek lauded Thursday the historical role played by Kuwait in support of his country. 

Speaking to KUNA exclusively, Dr. Abdulmalek said, "What Kuwait is offering in support to Yemen and its people still remains as a 'unique effort' to end the humanitarian crisis in the country and ensure stability and security." He noted that the Kuwaiti support to Yemen was not born out of the recent crisis in Yemen, it was and still remains as an important gesture throughout the previous years and decades. 

"The Kuwaiti leadership and people provided an honest, generous, and unconditional support to develop Yemeni schools, Universities, roads, hospitals, and so on," affirmed the Prime Minister, adding that the support left a noble and effective impression on the people of Yemen. 

The Minister commended the humanitarian role played by His Highness the Amir of Kuwait Sheikh Sabah Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah and his generosity towards Yemen and its people. 

He also applauded the Kuwaiti USD-250-million-pledge at the last Geneva humanitarian response conference for Yemen in February, indicating that deploying the donation through the Kuwait Fund for Arab Economic Development (KFAED), reflected keenness on part of Kuwaitis to aid Yemenis. 

In regards to his assessment to the Yemeni response conference, he affirmed that the event's outcome was positive. 

It reflected a keenness on part the Saudi-led coalition for legitimacy in Yemen and the international community to aid Yemen, stated the official who indicated donations amounted to USD 2.6 billion, an increase of 30 percent. 

Dr. Abdulmalek pointed out that donors stressed the importance of state institutes' involvement, especially the Yemeni Central Bank, in implementing plans for economic recovery and welfare.
