GCC chief affirms support for security in Yemen

GCC Secretary General Dr. Nayef Al-Hajraf on Thursday affirmed the council support for efforts aimed at beefing up security and stability in Yemen.
The GCC Secretariat General said in a statement that Al-Hajraf made the affirmation during a meeting with the head of the UN Mission to Support Hudaydah Agreement (UNMHA) in Yemen, Major General Michael Perry.
The statement added that the two sides discussed various other issues of common concern.
On January 16, 2019, the UN Security Council unanimously adopted resolution 2452, authorizing the establishment of a Special Political Mission, the United Nations Mission to support the Hudaydah Agreement (UNMHA).
UNMHA had been basically tasked with overseeing truce in the coastal regions and secure safe civilians' movement, following bitter fighting around the coastal city of Hudadah and nearby areas. (end)
