Yemen : Houthi Forces Shut Down Main Eastern Road in Taiz
Taiz — On Tuesday, Houthi militias closed the main eastern access road to the city of Taiz, effectively halting the movement of trucks and civilians and triggering heavy traffic congestion between the city center and the district of Al-Hawban.
Local sources reported that the sudden closure created long queues of vehicles, leaving residents stranded and commercial transport paralyzed along one of the most vital routes connecting Taiz with surrounding areas. Witnesses described the situation as chaotic, with drivers forced to wait for hours amid mounting frustration.
The incident underscores the ongoing humanitarian and logistical challenges in Taiz, a city long besieged and divided by frontlines of the conflict. The eastern road, considered a lifeline for goods and daily travel, has repeatedly been subject to restrictions and blockades, further complicating efforts to ease civilian suffering.
