Houthi drone attack injures 6 gov't soldiers in southern Yemen: source

A Houthi bomb-laden drone hit a military checkpoint in Yemen's southeastern province of Shabwa on Monday, wounding at least six government soldiers, a local military source said.
The attack targeted the checkpoint in the district of As Said in the eastern part of the province, the source said on condition of anonymity. The government state television also confirmed the drone attack but did not provide further details.
The Houthi rebels have yet to comment on the alleged attack.
The Yemeni government has repeatedly accused the Houthis of carrying out drone attacks in the oil-rich provinces of Shabwa and Marib, which have served as a significant battleground between the warring factions.
However, tensions between the conflicting parties have eased in recent months, with both sides adhering to a tacit truce. Consequently, drone attacks have become less frequent.
Efforts are ongoing by the United Nations to mediate a lasting cease-fire and secure a peace agreement between the warring factions.
Yemen has been locked in a military conflict since the Houthi militia took control of several northern cities and ousted the Yemeni government from the capital Sanaa in 2014.
