A Liberia-flagged Swiss-owned container ship MSC PALATIUM III was targeted while moving northbound about 22 nautical miles southwest of the Yemeni port of Mokha, British maritime security firm Ambrey said in an advisory note on Friday.
The vessel was heading to the Saudi port of Jeddah and Ambrey said in its assessment it was likely the container ship received a warning from Yemen’s Houthis not to transit through the Red Sea.
The vessel continued sailing northbound and changed course by 180 degrees approximately 30 minutes later to sail south toward the Bab Al-Mandeb Strait, Ambrey said.
