Yemen’s Legitimacy Crisis: Cancellation of All Yemenia Airways Flights and Suspension of Operations at Aden Airport!
Aden - Yemenia Airways flights to Aden were canceled on Thursday morning, in addition to a Djiboutian Airlines flight that had been scheduled to depart from Aden International Airport, according to informed sources.
The sources said that directives were issued by the Saudi coalition requiring all flights to transit through Jeddah or Riyadh for inspection, in order to conduct comprehensive security checks and verify the identities of all passengers before allowing flights to proceed.
According to the sources, flights are expected to resume once the necessary arrangements to implement this new mechanism are completed in the near future. They noted that flights bound for Jeddah and Riyadh will continue to operate normally, as they are not subject to additional inspection requirements.
A responsible source also pointed to technical issues affecting some flights, particularly those bound for Djibouti, stressing that these issues are still under extensive review.
In a subsequent development, the Minister of Transport issued a directive ordering a complete halt to operations and the suspension of all flights until further notice.
