Desert Trekker Completes 3,000km Camel Journey from Yemen to UAE
Aden - Yemeni desert trekker has completed a staggering 3,000-kilometer journey by camel, traveling from the rugged highlands of Yemen to the golden dunes of the United Arab Emirates.
The expedition, which spanned over three months, retraced ancient caravan routes once vital to trade and pilgrimage across the Arabian Peninsula.
The trekker, identified as tribal adventurer Saeed Al-Mahri, began his journey in Hadramaut, navigating harsh terrain, shifting sands, and extreme temperatures.
His route passed through Oman’s Empty Quarter and into the UAE’s southern frontier, where he was welcomed by Emirati heritage officials and camel enthusiasts.
Al-Mahri described the journey as a tribute to Bedouin resilience and a call to preserve traditional desert knowledge.
“This was not just a physical challenge,” he said. “It was a spiritual and cultural mission to reconnect with our roots and honor the legacy of our ancestors.”
The camel, named “Shujaa” (Arabic for “brave”), became a symbol of the journey’s grit and grace, drawing attention from regional media and desert communities along the way.
The UAE’s Ministry of Culture praised the trek as “a living testament to the endurance, hospitality, and unity of the Arabian desert peoples.”
Al-Mahri plans to document the journey in a bilingual photo-journal and hopes to inspire future desert expeditions that blend adventure with heritage preservation.
