EU, Royal Film Commission screen Yemeni film Ten Days Before the Wedding in Amman
In Amman, the EU Delegation to Yemen and Royal Film Commission screened the acclaimed Yemeni film Ten Days Before the Wedding, reaffirming our support for Yemen’s cultural and creative industries and helping local stories reach new audiences. Film producer Mohsen Alkhalifi engaged in a lively discussion with the audience following the screening.
The film narrates a young couple from Aden city counts down to their wedding, they face a 10-day countdown filled with obstacles spawned by the aftermath of the 2015 Yemen war, testing love against the shadows of conflict.
In 2019, the film won five awards, including the Jury Prize at the Aswan Film Festival and the Audience Award at the Arab Film Festival in Amman, Jordan. It was also nominated for five other international awards, and Yemen officially submitted the film to compete in the Best Foreign Language Film category at the Academy Awards that same year.
