The United Nations has once again urged the Houthi authorities in Yemen to release its detained staff members, emphasizing the importance of safeguarding humanitarian operations in the region. 

The call comes amid reports of prolonged detentions of UN personnel, along with staff from international and national non-governmental organizations.

UN Secretary-General António Guterres has described the detentions as a violation of international law and a significant obstacle to delivering critical aid to millions of Yemenis in need. 

The detained individuals, some held incommunicado for years, include humanitarian workers who play vital roles in addressing Yemen's severe humanitarian crisis.

The UN has reiterated its commitment to working through diplomatic channels to secure the immediate and unconditional release of its staff. It has also highlighted the need for the protection of aid workers and the cessation of actions that hinder humanitarian efforts.

This renewed appeal underscores the challenges faced by humanitarian organizations operating in conflict zones and the urgent need for cooperation to alleviate suffering in Yemen.
