Aden -- The United Nations has nominated Adam Abdelmoula, a seasoned Sudanese diplomat and humanitarian expert, to serve as its next Resident Coordinator in Yemen, according to diplomatic sources familiar with the appointment process.

Abdelmoula, who previously held senior positions within the UN system—including as Resident Coordinator and Humanitarian Coordinator in Somalia—is expected to bring extensive experience in conflict resolution, development coordination, and humanitarian response to one of the UN’s most complex missions.

His nomination comes at a critical time for Yemen, where the UN is working to navigate a fragile truce, address widespread humanitarian needs, and support long-term recovery efforts amid ongoing political fragmentation and economic collapse.
