Aden — Russia intends to restore its diplomatic presence in Yemen, the newly appointed Russian ambassador announced during a formal ceremony to present his credentials to Yemeni authorities. 

The move signals Moscow’s renewed engagement in the war-torn country after nearly a decade of limited representation.

Speaking at the event, the ambassador emphasized Russia’s commitment to supporting a peaceful and political solution to Yemen’s ongoing military and political crisis. He stressed that dialogue and diplomacy remain essential to ending the conflict, which has displaced millions and devastated the nation’s infrastructure.

The ambassador’s remarks come amid growing Russian outreach to both the internationally recognized government and other actors in Yemen. Moscow has recently hosted high-level meetings with Yemeni officials, reaffirming historical ties and pledging to reopen its embassy in Aden, the interim capital, in early 2025.

Observers say Russia’s re-entry into Yemen’s diplomatic landscape could influence regional dynamics, especially as global powers seek to mediate the conflict and address humanitarian needs.
