Death Toll Rises to 10 in Israeli Airstrikes on Houthi-Controlled Yemen
Sana'a – The death toll from recent Israeli airstrikes on Houthi-controlled areas in Yemen has climbed to ten, according to health officials in Sanaa. The strikes, which targeted key infrastructure including an oil facility, a power plant, and a military site near the presidential palace, were launched in response to a missile attack by the Iran-backed Houthi movement on Israeli territory.
The Israeli Defense Forces (IDF) confirmed the operation, stating that the targeted sites were being used for military purposes by the Houthi regime. A massive fireball and thick smoke were seen rising over the capital following the bombardment, which reportedly involved the deployment of 35 munitions across four strategic locations.
In addition to the fatalities, over 100 individuals were injured, including women and children. Twenty-one victims remain in critical condition, according to the Houthi-run Health Ministry.
The escalation marks the 15th Israeli strike on Houthi positions in Yemen since the beginning of the conflict, underscoring growing regional tensions amid Israel’s ongoing war in Gaza. Houthi officials have vowed to continue their support for Palestinian causes, despite the mounting casualties and destruction.
Israeli officials, including Defense Minister Israel Katz, have warned of further retaliatory actions, describing the strikes as a message that “for every missile they fire at Israel, the Houthis will pay compound interest”.
The international community has yet to issue a unified response, though humanitarian organizations have expressed concern over the impact on civilians and critical infrastructure.
