Russian Ambassador Announces Exchange of Engineering Documents with Yemen to Rehabilitate Al-Hiswah Power Plant in Aden
Aden — The Russian Ambassador to Yemen has announced the exchange of key engineering documents between Russia and Yemen as part of ongoing efforts to enhance bilateral cooperation in the energy sector. The documents pertain to the rehabilitation and modernization of the Al-Hiswah thermal power plant in the southern city of Aden.
Speaking during a recent meeting with Yemeni officials, the ambassador emphasized Russia’s commitment to supporting Yemen’s infrastructure recovery, particularly in the field of electricity generation. He noted that the technical documentation shared marks a significant step toward launching joint work to restore the plant’s operational capacity.
The Al-Hiswah power station, a vital source of electricity for Aden and surrounding areas, has suffered from years of underinvestment and damage due to the ongoing conflict. Its rehabilitation is seen as a critical component of broader efforts to stabilize essential services and improve living conditions in southern Yemen.
Yemeni authorities welcomed the initiative, expressing hope that the collaboration would pave the way for further Russian support in rebuilding the country’s energy infrastructure.
